Equal Access to Services of Union Digital Centers: Does Gender Matter?

Abstract :

Union Digital Centers (UDCs) were established to ensure information technology-based public service delivery at the rural local level in Bangladesh. This study examines the gender equality situation in the UDC service delivery and find out the major challenges. The study was conducted using a quantitative research approach based on primary and secondary data. Data has been processed and analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics with the help of MS Excel and SPSS software. Primary data has been collected from the different UDCs in Dowara Bazar Upazila of Sunamganj district. Whereas, secondary data has also been collected from the various articles, journals, and different sources available on the internet. The study found that men and women face unequal difficulties in obtaining services based on gender, living area, age, per-day income, education, employment-related services, and benefits and recommendations for improvement of the situation have been given accordingly.
