Abstract :
Antibacterial activity of Pd(bpy)(ONO2)2 complex (bpy = bipyridine) was studied by disc
diffusion method against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella oxytoca,
Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterococcus faecalis. The compound was found to be active
against the bacteria. DNA binding constant of that complex was studied with extracted DNA from
lemon by UV-Vis spectroscopy. The calculated binding strength was found to be 2.09×106
which
is significantly higher than that of the [Pd(bpy)(OH2)2]
2+ complex with CT-DNA.
