Comparison of proximate composition and antioxidant activity of black and green tea available in Bangladesh

Corresponding Author : Iftekhar Ahmad (iftekharfet.sust@yahoo.com)

Abstract : The present study was carried out to compare the black and green tea available in Bangladesh with respect to nutritive composition and antioxidant activity. Eight brands of black tea and two brands of green tea were bought from local super market. The variance between every proximate content (moisture, protein, fat, ash, and carbohydrate) of black and green tea was found statistically insignificant (p > 0.05). The total antioxidant activity was determined by phospho-molybdenum assay method and green tea performed significantly…

Localized states of modified Dirac equation

Corresponding Author : S.B. Faruque (awsbf62@yahoo.com)

Abstract : In this paper, we introduce an extension of the Dirac equation, very similar to Dirac oscillator, that gives stationary localized wave packets as eigenstates of the equation. The extension to the Dirac equation is achieved through the replacement of the momentum operator by a PT-symmetric generalized momentum operator. In the 1D case, the solutions represent bound particles carrying spin having continuous energy spectrum, where the envelope parameter defines the width of the packet without affecting the dispersion relation of the…

Spatio - Temporal Change Detection of Shoreline outside of the Coastal Embankment of Bangladesh: The Case Study on Barguna Sadar Upazila, Barguna District

Corresponding Author : Md. Bahuddin Sikder (bahuddinsikder@gmail.com)

Abstract : The main aim of this study is to delineate the shoreline change outside of the coastal embankment of Bangladesh. To fulfill this purpose, choose Barguna Sadar Upazila as a study area due to its unique position. This site is located at such a place where west and east side situated near the bank of the Bishkhali and Payra river, and in the south, the Bay of Bengal and these two rivers formed an estuary, which is the breeding place for…

Preparation of Nanostructured Iron Oxide Particles and Their Surface Functionalization with Oleic Acid, APTMS and Silver Nanoparticles

Corresponding Author : Nur Uddin Ahamad (nur-che@sust.edu)

Abstract : In this article, preparation of magnetic nanostructured iron oxide particles (IOs) and their surface functionalization with oleic acid, 3-Aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APMTS) and Ag nanoparticles are reported. IOs particles were prepared by co-precipitation method and colloidal silver nanoparticles were synthesized by polyol method. The nanoscale IOs particles (<100nm) exhibited paramagnetic property and surface functionalization did not alter its magnetism. Colloidal stability of IOs particles is dependent on the nature of the surfactants. Necked IOs, and IOs functionalized with APTMS and Ag nanoparticles…

ANNIHILATOR IDEALS IN 0-DISTRIBUTIVE LATTICES

Corresponding Author : M.R. Talukder (r.talukder-mat@sust.edu)

Abstract : In this paper, we generalized some results of annihilator ideals for 0-distributive lattices. We prove that the set of all annihilator ideals of a 0-distributive lattice form a Boolean algebra. We also prove Stone type separation theorem for annihilator ideals of 0-distributive lattices.

Correlates of stunting and underweight among under five children of Sylhet district in north-eastern Bangladesh

Corresponding Author : Sumonkanti Das (sumonkanti-sta@sust.edu)

Abstract :

Sylhet is the most populated district in the north-east part of Bangladesh where half of the under-five children are either stunted or underweight. The correlates of stunting and underweight have not yet been explored extensively for the children of Sylhet district. This study aims to explore the correlates of stunting and underweight in Sylhet by selecting an appropriate logistic model for each of the indicators. A total of 809 under-5 children were selected in the household survey via two-stage cluster…
