Abstract :

The disjoint union Cj ∪ Ck ∪ Cl is component of three cycles Cj , Ck and Cl . In this paper, we show that the disjoint union graph Cj ∪ Ck ∪ Cl is harmonious for odd j + k + l with l ≥ j + k + 5.

Improved Optical Recognition of Bangla Characters

Corresponding Author : M. Shahidur Rahman (rahmanms@sust.edu)

Abstract :

This paper presents a method on improved optical recognition of Bangla characters toward building a working system. The recognition process performs pre-processing of input image, segmentation of both lines, words and characters and then recognizes the characters based on the classifying criteria. Experience with OCR (Optical Character Recognition) problem teaches that for most subtasks involve in OCR, there is no single technique that gives perfect results for all the variations of printed text. Based on the features of Bangla characters,…

Inclined Drift Method for Dispersed Rock Handling of Madhapara Hard Rock Mine, Bangladesh

Corresponding Author : M Farhad Howladar (dmfh75@yahoo.com)

Abstract :

Madhayapara Hard Rock Mine has the annual production target of 1.6 million ton. During the loading and unloading of hard rock to bring it to the surface, certain amount of rock would be dispersed and the dispersed rock should be handled for the economical as well as technical point of view. The inclined drifting ranges between -270m and -334.8m, because -270m is the production level and the arresting bean is situated in -334.8m level. The required width-height ration for the…

Investigation of the Transverse mode of a laser with variation of the Hermite and Laguerre polynomia

Corresponding Author : R. A. Jewel (rausanatik@live.com)

Abstract :

This paper aims at explaining the operation of Hermite and Laguerre polynomials on the Gaussian beam in the case of higher order laser modes. The parameters of Hermite polynomial explain the Hermite–Gaussian laser beam in the Cartesian symmetry and that of Laguerre polynomial explains Laguerre–Gaussian laser beam in the cylindrical symmetry. In this paper it is shown that the Gaussian beam changes its shape as the parameters of the polynomials are changed and the change is explained. There is derivation…

Selection of Economical Span in RCC Building

Corresponding Author : H.M.A.Mahzuz (mahzuz_211@yahoo.com)

Abstract :

In this paper an attempt was taken to determine the most economical span for a conventional RCC building. To identify that code imposed guidelines along with analysis were followed. The comparison is made in terms of the required concrete volume and reinforcement. Comparing all the facts for a given live load it is seen that shorter spans are more economical.

Transformational Generative Grammar for Various Types of Bengali Sentences

Corresponding Author : Mohammad Reza Selim (selim@sust.edu)

Abstract :

In this paper, we analyze the syntax of various types of Bengali sentences and design transformational generative grammar rules for them. Designing machine-processable grammars to recognize and generate various types of Bengali sentences is an important step and prerequisite to develop Bengali natural language applications. However, although few works for designing grammars are found, they mainly deal with on assertive sentences. Besides, those grammars are phrase structure grammars and can only work on strictly formal sentences. Many natural language sentences…

Transient Diffraction Efficiency and the Role of the Deep Center Levels in BaTiO3 Crystal

Corresponding Author : Y. Haque (yasmeen@sust.edu)

Abstract :

The charge transport model has been applied to the photorefractive crystal. Shallow & Deep levels have been accounted for in the formulation of the charge transport equations. It is assumed that the writing beams excite the shallow level charges where as the electrons from the deep level are the ones excited into the conduction band by the reading beam. An appreciable fraction of these electrons recombine with the deep level holes. The electron-hole recombination rate is dependent on the excitation…
